That's the apparent result of a Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll, conducted April 20-22. Here's the question:
Do you think Texas would be better off as an independent nation or as part of the United States of America?35% answered "independent nation," including 48% of Republicans, 40% of independents, and even 15% of Democrats. I wonder whether secessionist sentiment might be significant in any other states as well. I'd like to see the poll results on that same question for California, Alaska and Hawaii, for instance.
