HOT5 Daily 11/29/2010

1. "Wikileaks Completes Obama's Transformation Into Jimmy Carter" Impotence against repeated attacks.

Representative Sample: The Wikileaks folks trot the globe with impunity and funnel documents to the press at will, for the purpose of damaging U.S. relations with other countries, our war efforts, and our intelligence capability. And we do almost nothing about it.

2. "Wikileaks as a Foreign Terrorist Organization" Further discussion about this legal option for retaliating against Wikileaks.

Representative Sample: I am hearing from sources tonight that the letter by Rep Peter King is being taken quite seriously by the leadership in the State Department and the Justice Department, and this is an "all hands on deck" evolution at State to come up with options as of Monday morning.

3. "Libs call for — wait for it — cuts in defense" What else is new? Spend more on everything else and cut defense.  That's been liberal policy since Vietnam.

Representative Sample: Never mind that two-thirds of the budget is entitlements — we must cut defense and soak the rich.

4. "Maritime Security: US Navy Using ‘Q-Ships’ And Somalis Guilty Of Piracy In Historic Trial" I, along with a number of others, advocated using Q ships against Somalia pirates. Apparently the U.S. is doing so. Now if only we'd also start executing pirates and destroying their bases.

Representative Sample: the target this time was the U.S. guided missile frigate Nicholas, disguised to resemble a cargo ship. Navy gunners fired back, and by dawn, commandos had captured five Somalis.

5. "Where is the lefty outrage?" Left only concerned about exposure of U.S. secrets if the exposure can be used for political purposes against Republicans. Otherwise, it's a good thing or something to be downplayed.

Representative Sample: Remember the lefty “outrage” over the outing of Valerie Plame? Remember how the New York Times reported on the “outrage” for months and months?

  1. @ #5: The Plame leak was made by white house officials who got off with a slap on the wrist. The wikileaks documents were leaked by a low-level guy in the pentagon who is being punished.

Furthermore, notice how after the Plame leak, no newspaper that carried the leaked documents were labeled terrorists. The fact is, wikileaks is a journalistic organization that publishes what it is sent. By targeting it, you ignore the real problem; members of the military leaking classified documents.

  2. Wrongo sport.

Plame was NOT outed by a White House official. Plame was outed by Richard Armitage at the State Department.

Secondly, Libby was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison, a fine of $250,000, and two years of supervised release, including 400 hours of community service. That sure as hell isn’t a slap on the wrist.

Furthermore, in a disgusting miscarriage of justice, Libby was convicted of one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of perjury, and one of the counts of making false statements. All of this was the result of an him being investigated on a charge he was innocent of. If he had not been the subject of politically motivated and false charges to begin with, he wouldn’t be a felon and a ruined man today. He was cuxified for leftist kicks. I will never forgive George Bush for not pardoning him.

In any case, in the grand scheme of things the outing of Plame was NOTHING compared to the Wikileaks crime.

  3. Plame was outed by both Rove and Armitage. Neither was punished in any meaningful way.

  4. Bull! It was Armitage and he has admitted it. If it Libby was involved, they would have charged him with it. They didn't even charge him with outing Plame.

In any case, she wasn't even an active agent and many people knew she worked for the CIA. The whole thing was moonbat revenge for her husband's bungled trip to Africa.

  5. Have I ever accused Libby of anything? Though given that he was convicted by a jury of his peers, I'm going to say he did what they say he did.

And like I said before, both Armitage and Rove told people that Plame was a CIA agent.

  6. Yeah, about like Martha Stewart. She was never charged for insider trading but was convicted for lying to a cop during an investigation for the insider trading she was never charged with.

I am disgusted by liberals who believe that this sort of fishing for anything to convict somebody on is fine... as long as it isn't against Bill Clinton.
