Spain did it after the reconquista and when it conquered the Americas; Britain rearranged Hinduism to conform to the Western and Islamic view of religion as a coherent whole; Japan did it during and right after WW2, portraying itself as Asia's liberation from the West.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say every invader, but excising & rewriting history isn't limited to Islam.

Exerting influence/control over a religion is a different thing. Even slanting history your way -- which most conquerers do -- is different that trying to erase it.
